It is the distinctive aroma of any product from the L’Occitane range that instantly transports me away from my kids shouting “Mummy, mummy, mummy” at every opportunity, to the peaceful landscapes of Provence.  To have that little touch of the South of France, quite literally in the palm of my hand as I slather on my favourite hand cream whilst standing at the kitchen sink, having attacked the mound of washing up, is the moment of tranquility I crave.  And if I get soft hands as well as some fleeting TLC, then I am all the more happy for it!

We love nothing more than watching somebody we know start from nothing and graft their way to success.  It make us understand how much hard work goes in behind the scenes to get to that level, and also makes us very proud.  A person who has achieved this well-deserved success is the brilliant Alexa Chung, our old work colleague and fellow model.  Who would have thought she would be destined for great things? Well, we did, actually!!  She always had a unique way of putting clothes together, and along with her innate, fun sense of humour, was always bound for superstardom!

Joseph has been a stalwart of the British designer high street for as long as I can remember.  There was a time over nearly twenty years ago when all I wore and lusted after were a pair of Joseph Trousers (well, that and Luke Perry from Beverly Hills 90210).  They epitomised glamour, and a timeless style that sat perfectly (or so I thought) with my penchant for 50 pence university vodka red bulls and battered mars bars – that true epitome of elegance.

With ‘summer’ clearly on its way out (what on earth?!)…We have decided that we are going to make the best of it and look forward to autumn, and all the fashion fun that comes with this change of season.  But, instead of shoving our summer clothes to the back of our wardrobes, and dragging our warmer clothes out from the depths of our closets – we love to find pieces that can work in our wardrobe all year round – ones that can stay on their hangers 365 days a year.  And, if that item is made by a small up-and-coming environmentally conscious British brand, then even better!

I have always loved Nars make up – it is the incredible array of colourful eyeshadows that always catch my eye.  Especially when I am looking for something totally unglamorous, but totally necessary, like concealer to cover that charming witch’s spot on my chin.  The days of buying those crazy coloured eyeshadows to wear on a raucous night out are long gone.  Not only do I have few occasions at which to wear that shocking-pink glitter eyeshadow, but I also do not have the time or the inclination to correctly apply these eyeshadows with a contoured brush, and all the blending effort that goes with it.  If only someone could come up with an easy to apply eyeshadow stick in cool colours that takes no effort and still looks good …. oh wait, someone has, and it is Nars! I love following fashion and learning about what trends, styles and colours are “in” right now.  This does, in no way mean that I am a slave to fashion – in fact quite the opposite.  For, despite those trends, I am always drawn to classic and simple shaped tops that have a little twist.  Recently I discovered a perfectly ‘on trend’ top in H & M, who always seem to have a knack of taking simple classics and mixing them up.

One of my best, and most everlasting memories of my youth is of hitting the town with my bestie, armed with a handbag stuffed with blue hair mascara, a Mini Disc Man and a Lancome Juicy Tube.  Does anyone remember this stuff?!  Anyway, now that we have grown up somewhat, and instead now get drunk at class drinks parties (or is that just me?), the Juicy Tube has also grown up, turned into a “Shaker”, and evolved into a most funky little specimen, that will now be a handbag friend for a while to come.

We love nothing more than this time of year.  Weddings; Summer parties; big birthday bashes; and holidays…. What more could a gal want from her summer?  Well, if you are asking that loaded question, we would love full time childcare and a daily blow-dry, but that would be asking too much!!  On the hunt for some dresses that would tick all the summer fun boxes, especially an upcoming 40th birthday party in Ibiza, we found these two sunny little numbers that are perfect for sundown Aperol Spritz drinking and drunken barefoot fun on the beach after that beach party.

Had we kept hold of all those bold, branded t shirts we loved to wear back in the 90’s, we are certain that we would now be back on trend with a very loud bump! However, the Naf Naf, Benetton and Jane Norman ( remember them?!) logos do not quite make the cut the second time around, and with logo t shirts back in the fashion spotlight, we have hunted down two of our favourites.

Our summer holiday had started so well. We got to the airport, one that can only loosely be described as being in London, on time ( 4:45 am), and got to security without any major drama or meltdown. To avoid meltdowns because of tired little legs, we decided to take the buggy and two scooters. Big mistake. We got as far as security where the two scooters were promptly confiscated. After many tears, we vowed that we would enter Dragons Den and impress Peter Jones with a flight compatible scooter. Clearly, someone beat us to it.
