If like me, your life does not conform to an everyday office routine – then wearing an off beat version of the power suit can have its benefits.  A good suit is perfect for those mornings when you stare longingly at your wardrobe with absolutely no idea what to wear, and need to get dressed in three minutes before the kids charge into the bedroom.

Welcome to the look that shouts ” pick me today!”  There is a reason why men enjoy wearing suits to work. It’s easy, classic and does not require much thought in the morning.  Just throw it on and off you go.  If Daddy is off to the office in his power suit, then Mummy can power suit herself up for the day as well… Mama means business with those tantrums today!

Having tried and tested a few suits from various brands, Scotch and Soda have interpreted the classic suit in a way I really love – relaxed and easy going.  My particular favourite are these loose fitting, rich, wool-mix trousers with a stripe going down the leg – they will keep you snug and warm through the winter months, and even allow you to show off those bare ankles a little longer into the winter months.  Pasty ankles aside, this cropped trouser has been designed to help accentuate the slimmest part of your legs, thus elongating and lengthening your silhouette.  The sateen lining makes them super comfortable, without a cold bottom in sight.

I have paired my trousers up with a kimono inspired wool blazer, also from Scotch and Soda.  This warm blazer works effortlessly with the trousers, and comes with a belt that accentuates the waistline.  Buying a relaxed suit like this means you can get lots of different styles out of two pieces.  You can pair the trousers with a jumper and a winter coat, and pair the jacket with some jeans and warm boots.  And, this ensemble works seamlessly from day to night.  So, the next time you are stuck for what to wear, look no further than the humble suit.  After all, it’s supposed to suit you, sir.
